City of Palo Alto
Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional (CII) Survey Program

WaterWise is currently working with the City of Palo Alto on a water conservation program which involves conducting indoor water-use audits at commercial, institutional and industrial facilities within the City. The goal of the program is to provide local businesses and institutions with water conservation information and techniques within the City of Palo Alto through detailed indoor water-use audit reports.

WaterWise personnel are tasked with gathering information such as an inventory of all water fixtures at a given facility as well as flow rates for each device. They interview facility staff to get detailed information on usage of fixtures as well as specialty water equipment. Once the data is collected at the facility, the information is compiled into an intricate calculation spreadsheet. A detailed report is then written, describing the facility’s current water uses and what measures can be taken to reduce and conserve water use for the future.

The reports provide rebates and incentives that are offered by the City of Palo Alto as well as the Santa Clara Valley Water District. The indoor water-use audit reports are a perfect step towards water conservation for these businesses and institutional facilities.
